Worded Out (for today)

Whew. What a day. Did about 40 pages worth of stuff on the novel, bringing me down to 5-6 chapters left before I'm done, which I'm hoping will be Sunday. Then all I have to do is put together an entertaining synopsis that makes sense of this madness I've put together.

I had quite a lot of fun working on the chapters today, even if the scenes seem to grow in size the more I work on 'em. I keep thinking I'll cut them short, and then the characters will do something wacky or unexpected, yet it'll fit just perfectly into the grand scheme of the book.

Like today, when the coach and four of his players attend a Santeria ritual hosted by two of his new players from Cuba, hoping to bring the team good luck in the coming weeks now that America has joined the first world war, and in the course of this ritual, after they kill a chicken and their first basemen eats most of a headless pigeon (feathers and all), then... Well, to say anymore would be telling (plus I don't feel like typing any more!!).

Suffice to say, I'm having a ball. Not a bad sick day, lemme tell ya. Woo-woo. I'm also getting slap-happy. Talk at you later.
