Cool Writer Types

This is cool -- I got a little cash in my PayPal account, so of course I had to spend it right away. So I headed on over to Fictionwise to see if I could load up my Palm with fiction.

Here's what I found, for cheap: Jay Caselberg's Wyrmhole and its sequel Metal Sky, Elizabeth Bear's new book Hammered, a Michael Bishop story called "The Quickening," and the February 2005 issue of Ellery Queen, which includes a story by my old writing buddy Lee Capps (his first pro sale!).

Interesting -- I've either met or had some sort of online chat or interaction with all these folks. Always cool having friends who know how to write.

Speaking of friends and writers, I got a note from the people at Balticon, inviting me to be a guest there. I thought that was interesting. It also made me wonder who else they'd invited. Because I am a Small Fry. Anyone ever go to this con? Is it fun? Worthwhile? At least this time 'round, I'll actually have a book to show off. Maybe I'll try the con thing this year, for a change... Especially if I know some cool writer types going to it.

Just sent off the Wannoshay novel in its entirety to an editor. Wish it luck as it whisks its way north to NYC! Later!
