Mood:
Hopeful, yet not too hopeful

Here we go again

Just sent off another complete novel manuscript to another editor. A year ago I'd be jumping up and down, but now I'm what one of Elizabeth's friends would describe as "blasé-blasé" about it all. I'm hopeful, but not TOO hopeful.

This time around it's the paranormal romance I wrote almost 2 years ago(!), and totally revised last year. I dig it, and hey, it's got pirates! Well, the ghosts of pirates, on Ocracoke Island. So wish me luck with Heart's Revenge!

(Rejection is so much easier if you lower your expectations!)

This morning I got some excellent feedback from fellow writer Anna Tambour, who was kind enough to take a look at the opening chapters of the baseball novel despite the fact that she probably cares quite little about America's past time, being as she lives in Australia. Along with comments from Anna as well as Greg and Paul, I feel quite confident that I've got this book started off on the right foot.

Now to revise the middle act (cue ominous music).

In other literary news, if you're in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area this Saturday, why don't you boogey on over to Internationalist Books at 7 p.m., where along with Elizabeth, Jason Lundberg, Nora Jemison, Louise Dolan, Luna Black, and Jamie Bishop, we'll be eating good food and enjoying readings from Scattered, Covered, Smothered. I'm hoping to talk my wife into doing a reading with me (Bruce Boston's short story about pizza!). It'll be fun, and Drew can't wait to go to his first reading. See ya there. Later!
