Three months already (with obligatory photos)

And bam, just like that, our son Drew has hit another milestone -- he's three months old! And he's doing all sorts of stuff now, developmentally, like discovering his hands and especially his thumb, which he's currently trying to eat while sitting in his bouncey seat next to me as I type as fast as I can. He's also eating rice cereal once a day, and he's gotten quite good at blowing bubbles with his spit. And we believe he's cutting his first teeth.

See the evidence here, as he chews his Whoozit to death (thanks Lee and Louise!):

Argh! My gums hurt!

Where did that infant go that we had 'round here? How did he suddenly become a toddler?

We spent last week at the beach, hanging out together before Lizzie has to go back to work next week after three months of maternity leave and Drew has to go to... daycare. Ugh. Putting your 3-month-old in the hands of others is a painful prospect. We're trying to come to terms with it, along with contemplating many get-rich-quick schemes.

Drew liked the beach, even if it was cold and windy all the time:

Bring on the rays, I'm ready!

Oh man, I've turned into one of those parents, with the cute baby photos. Someone stop me.

I got lots of good reading in at the beach, reading some fine stories from the latest Lenox Ave and Fortean Bureau (I especially liked Tim and Nick's collab about the end of the world and Lilith, Adam's first wife, along with fine stories by E. Sedia and Steph Burgis) as well as the last few stories in the latest RatBastard chapbook (loved the John Aegard story about the golden age of fire escapes).

I was going to try and jam out a mini epic before the deadline next week, but after getting hit with four rejections when we got back from the beach, I decided to focus on the novel instead, as I should be doing, and I'm pretty psyched about fixing that one up once again.

Before I forget, just wanted to give a big congratulations to Jim Hines and his wife on the birth of their son. Very cool news!

And that pretty much gets us all caught up. Whew.

Oh, what the heck -- one more cute photo from his latest Ofoto album, from his first encounter with rice cereal. Check out those slippers, man!

I ain't eating that, no way!

Ah, I just can't help it. I love the little guy. Later!
