Much less stressed now, thanks.

Stress? We got it for you right here.

These last few days have been sort of a blur, as things have been a bit stressful at the Jasper household. The reason? Elizabeth is heading back to work, and Drew is going to have to spend some of his days hanging out with someone else. Argh. That bites.

But we did a bit of reshuffling with our weekdays, and things are going to come together quite nicely, I think. Obviously, we'd love for one of us to be with him all the time, but our bank account says otherwise.

Starting not next week but the following week, he'll be spending Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays with his aunt Angela (Lizzie's sister), who stays at home with her 2 kids, and then Lizzie will be with Drew on Tuesdays, and I get him all day on Thursdays. We're both working longer days at work to pick up the missed hours.

Of course, next week is a bit goofy, as her sister is out of town, so I'll probably take 2 days off, Lizzie will take 2 other days off, and my mom is pitching in by watching Drew on Tuesday. Plus my sister and her family are coming to town on Wednesday, so there's another wrinkle. Maybe we can put them to work, babysitting... :)

It's amazing, the hoops we jump through, willingly, for our small fries. But the thought of taking him, at 3 months of age, to a daycare where he didn't know anyone, was about to kill us. He just seems way too small to be heading off to "school" already (though he's probably twice as big as most other kids his age!).

I know he was picking up on the stresses of his mom and dad, because Drew was quite grumpy all week, until we finalized our new plan yesterday. Last night he was like a new kid, smiling and chilling out (though he did have his fussy moments).

All of this is to say that, the past few days have been pretty sucky.

In other news, I'm itching to find time to work on revising my baseball novel again, after getting in a groove with it thanks to feedback from the usual suspects, and I keep picking at it, adding bits to tighten the theme and focus. I like this part of the process a lot. It's all about the details at this point, mixing and matching until the right ones are fitted in, cutting the extra fluff, buffing it all until it shines.

The only catch is, thanks to SarahP, I've been challenged to complete a mini-epic for David's anthology before the deadline, which is in a couple days. Too many ideas, not enough time. And here I am, stuck at the Day Job... At least this week is almost over! Later.
