Writerly shovels

So that's two good mornings of writing. In a row! Wow -- I guess I was sort of burnt out at the end of last month, because I just couldn't muster up any interest in any sort of writing. I was about to trash my current novel, but luckily I survived as well as my manuscript.

I did lots of reading during my down-time, though. I guess I just needed to recharge. I'm still not 100%, but I'm getting there. I think the trick will be to keep on exercising, hitting the gym at least twice a week for some weights to keep my arms from killing me from sitting at a keyboard all day long, and jogging on all the other days. That helps, immensely.

My current goal is to jam out the opening three chapters of this book and send it to a couple readers, then decide if I should continue. I'm kind of leaning toward continuing, just because I've been digging down and hitting some cool stuff with my writerly shovel. Always fun.

In other news (back in the real world), the little guy is doing well, having taught himself how to sit up from a crawling position, and babbling more (he's on "babababa" now, with all sorts of interesting variations). He's hanging out with his mom all day today as her new MWF schedule kicks in (and we hope we can get by on 1 and 3/5 incomes).

The weird thing is, Drew goes to sleep for the night at 7:30 p.m., so after we get in some wild playing time, he's zonked out, and then Elizabeth and I have the rest of the night to read or watch a movie. But part of me feels guilty, like we should wake him up and play more or something. Plus I miss just hanging out with him. Working all day bites. Later!
