slogging through temporary bachelorhood

Stayed up WAY too late last night, finishing up chapter three of the novel, tweaking like crazy. I also spent WAY too much time messing with my Web site updates, but I have to admit, the new Stories page looks nice. It's probably far too busy, with too much text (sorry SarahP!), but I really like having all those logos and book covers on there. Sweet.

I am such a geek. I also updated the new Novels page to include new info about the current novel-in-progress, Sixteen Miles from Everywhere.

This Web site upgrade is gonna kill me. At least I have all the main pages done. I only have about 50 of the "secondary" pages (mostly excerpts from stories and novels) left to do... I could never be a Web developer for a day job. It's too nitpicky, and I'm way too impatient.

In other news, I'm still slogging through my days of bachelorhood. It's not as bad as last time, but every time I look at the photos of Lizzie and Drew on my monitor (I have 7 of 'em plastered up there), I feel both sad that they won't be there when I get home, and grateful as hell that I have them in my life. Come on Thursday afternoon!

No big plans tonight -- probably read some more in the Year's Best SF antho edited by Dozois. I read "Touring" by M. John Harrison, and liked it, especially the weirdness of it and the way he never really picked a protagonist for the story. Who knows, I may get inspired to start thinking about my Spaceships novel from all this SF reading (though it would mean I'd have to rent about 2 dozen bad SF flicks set on spaceships as "research").

But I digress. Here's the important stuff -- today's Drew picture! This one is the most recent one we have, featuring his two new teeth on the bottom of his mouth:

We need to get a new one now that the first of his two top teeth have FINALLY popped through. The kid keeps on growing and getting better and better. I love those baby blues. Later!
