Almost there...

Lots of busy stuff today -- dropped the dog off at the boarding clinic, dumped water on our ferns so they stay alive another couple days while we're gone, and am in the process of slogging through 80 more pages of edits at work for the day job. Soon as I finish that, and run to the PO to drop off two story subs and three queries to agents for the baseball novel, I'll be ready to go see this guy (and his mom, of course!):

This one cracks me up -- he looks so casual, hanging out and nibbling on his snacks. He's a pro when it comes to finger food.

I'm taking a little hiatus from the current novel, now that I have the opening three chapters done. (Anyone interested in reading what I've got so far? I'm sort of interested in getting some basic reader-response on this, if you're interested. I'll be glad to do the same for your work.)

So while I'm breaking from Sixteen Miles, I've been updating some older projects, and thinking about ways to fix up "Dead Man's Rope," which is looking more like a novella than a novel to me lately. I'd love to finish that one up and send it out somewhere. Hopefully I can keep it under 40,000 words. I'd love to get it to 25k, because more markets will take that length. We'll see -- it all depends on the story and where it takes me.

I'm taking printouts of that story and my opening three chapters to read at the beach. Who knows if I'll get 'round to doing much reading there... I'm usually too busy hanging out with Drew and Lizzie and sloshing around in the lazy river outside the condo.

Less than four hours to go now. Woo hoo! And here's another photo of Mr. Drew, just because it's such a damn good one (Lizzie does a nice job with a camera, doesn't she?). This is yet another "big eyes" picture:

Have a great weekend, all! Later.
