How about two works-in-progress?

Well, Drew and I survived our first night without Lizzie around (though we were both a bit sadder for it, missing her). The kiddo did decide to get up around midnight and try to raise a ruckus, but I managed to get him back to sleep without too much effort. That was the one thing I was worried about -- Lizzie can get him back to sleep much easier than me (I mean, I could whip out a boob, but I'm not sure how much good it'd do!).

I think tonight we may take a ride somewhere, maybe go for a stroll indoors -- Drew digs that. He loves watching people. Even if we have to go to a (gasp) mall.

Speaking of Mr. Drew, here's a photo of the cute little fella from last night, before he crashed after tearing up the living room.

As for writing, I've been looking over my current writing projects, and it was the following sentence I saw toward the end of what I'd written in "Dead Man's Rope" that makes me want to work on that as well as my 16 Miles novel:

I crawled on my belly toward the safeguarded trap door, broke the handle, said the passkey words, and felt one of the mouse corpses go hot in my pocket as the locks on the horizontal door popped open.

You can't go wrong with flaming rodents!

So maybe I'll continue working on the novel in longhand, and do a mini-scene or two on "Dead Man's Rope" on the computer, in my copious spare time... I dunno, I just like having a couple things cooking. I'd really like to keep "Dead Man's Rope" to novella size. Don't ask me why, because there are no markets for novellas. I just like the length.

And that's about it -- I'm outta here to go pick up Drew and start Guy's Weekend for real! Later...
