A Good News/Bad News sort of Day

So the good news is, after a very hectic and somewhat stressful weekend of running around various neighborhoods and always returning to that house (you know, the one that's not even built yet!), is that we got pre-approval to actually buy the house. The bad news is that our monthly mortgage payment would be triple what we're currently paying on our current house.

So we could buy the nifty three-story bungalow on the corner lot, with the screened-in porch, garage, third-floor office/library for me and a playroom for Drew. But we'd have to give up buying groceries to make the monthly payments... I'm not thinking it's gonna work out. Bummer.

In other good news, I'm off work on Friday. The bad news is Drew gets his tubes that morning (and I'll probably do some work from home on the work laptop if I have to). But the surgery is fast, and I know he'll recover quickly.

Other good news -- I still haven't collected any rejections on my various novels and stories out there. Bad news? I still haven't heard anything about my various novels and stories out there.

Good news -- I finished my story I was working on and sent it off to the anthology editor (also the same editor who revised my romance novel), and I really, really like it. Bad news? Well, none, really. It's always good to finish a story. I'm hoping she likes it enough to buy it.

Good news -- I'm ready to dive back into my novel, Sixteen Miles from Everywhere. Bad news? I've been so busy with house stuff that I haven't had time to even think about it. And Drew decided he wanted to get up at 5:30 a.m. and hang out with Dad while Dad was trying to write... But that's not really bad news, just that the kid needs his sleep!

And finally, the good news is that I'm feeling a bit better, writing about the bad news. It doesn't seem all that bad, now, actually. Later!
