Thank you Daylight Savings Time!

Ah yes, good old "Fall Back, Spring Forward" -- I woke up on my own, no alarm, at four a.m. this morning, and rolled right out of bed. I was up so early I even had time to read another chapter in Gaiman's Anansi Boys, which I'm happy to report has started to get pretty damn good after one chapter too many of the silly slapstick stuff of mistaken identities and flip-flopping character points of view.

Then I got busy with my novel, Sixteen Miles from Everywhere. I must say, I'm pretty damn excited about this book again. I guess I just needed some cooling-off time between the major revisions to the romance novel, followed by the story I cranked out, then the copy-edits to the aforementioned romance novel. Not to mention the crazy business of major financial distress about possibly buying a new house all of a sudden, and Drew's tubes... Utter craziness the past few weeks.

Now, at last, on Halloween, I feel like everything is clicking back into place -- Drew's feeling great and chattering away with all the new sounds he can hear in his cleared ears, Elizabeth and I are way less stressed about money (and we're even making gradual fixes to our much-neglected house, slowly), I've got all my other side projects done, and I can just focus on the novel again.

That's a good feeling.

I must say, too, that the holidays are much, much more fun with a kiddo in the house. We've been having fun introducing Halloween to Drew, and Thanksgiving and Xmas will be quite fun as well. Even if he thinks we're a bit nutso, carving up pumpkins or turkeys and stringing up shiny lights, I hope we're slowly accumulating a lot of fond memories in his little head.

After two really hectic months, life feels fun again. Later!
