Okay, I've messed with AppleWorks as well as the demo version of Word that came with the computer (and locked it up twice -- that's what I get for trying to use 350-page documents on demo software), tried freeware like AbiWord, and I'm still not happy.

What's the best word-processing tool to use on an Apple if I've got a lot of .doc files (that I'd rather not convert before using on my new iMac) from Windows? I'll be moving between a Windows system and the iMac -- surely there's a word processor that can handle files better than what I've seen so far.

Some tips would be greatly appreciated! Gettin' frustrated (don't even ask about trying to move Quicken files from Windows 98 to the Mac -- still trying!) Later...
