Birthdays!

I still can't believe a year and a day has passed since Drew was born. I never did get time yesterday to properly celebrate his one-year birthday here in this journal, and here I am again, at the end of the work day, firing off a quick journal entry about it.

What a difference this young man has made in my life. I feel happier than I ever have in my life, and while it can be stressful at times (especially when he's sick), it's always worth it. Especially when you hear him laugh. Or when he's sitting next to you, and he just leans back and rests his head on your chest. Or when he pats your shoulder when you give him a hug.

And, you know, the same could be said about my wife, who shares our little guy's birthday. I tell ya, it's hard to keep everything straight with two birthdays on the same day... But Elizabeth has made me the happiest person I know. I'm a lucky fella, having these two as my two best buds:

We had quite a lovely day yesterday, even if it was a little crazy busy (we went out to look at another house, and I think it might be The One -- more on that later, though). More birthday photos are here.

I had to take a look at my first journal about Drew from last year, after he was born, and I was tickled to see that he's grown almost a foot (ten inches) in a year, and packed on almost 16 pounds. Amazing! He's 2'8" and 24.5 lbs. :)

And just because I can't help but add another photo, here's Drew testing out the percussion system he set up in the kitchen:

Oh, and finally, Drew's decided to start taking little mini-steps. He's on his way to walking, I tell ya... Then the chase will begin. Later!
