Nowa Fantastyka! And Octopus Gloves!

I've had a pretty hellish-busy week, so I'll keep this short and sweet. Trying to tie off all the loose ends at the current day job is like trying to put gloves on an octopus.

Got a nice email from an editor at the Polish magazine Nowa Fantastyka that they want to reprint my story "Natural Order." Another foreign-language sale! Very cool.

I got two of my four books from the Night Shade sale (the other two come out later this year -- Tim P's collection and Elizabeth Bear's collection), and instead of reading Doug Lain's collection, I got sucked into Liz William's Snake Agent. Cool stuff so far -- a detective in Singapore Three, sort of a ghost hunter looking for a lost soul. I know I'll be reading more of Liz Williams' stuff, soon. I'm hooked, after only about 10 pages.

Finished a new chapter of Sixteen Miles this week, only to realize that I need to add two things to it at some point -- a flashback and sub-plot with some crazy made-up characters. Probably one more scene. Now, to find time to write it and plug it back into the chapter... (Now I know why that chapter seemed so short!).

And that's all for today! Got some various house stuff to do this weekend -- squeaky floors to fix and a new door to install. Elizabeth is outside right now pulling weeds. I need to go join her... Later!
