Shots suck.

Having your day start off with three shots in the upper thigh -- not to you, but to your 15-month-old -- is not how I'd prefer to launch my Tuesday, thanks very much.

Ugh. Drew got his last set of immunization shots for a while (until he's 2 I think/hope), and man, did he scream. He was already tired and restless, thanks to being all out of sorts due to daylight savings time (aren't we all?), and then the doctor and nurse took their own sweet time getting it all prepped, so he was antsy as all get out by that first stick.

Poor little guy. But by the time we got him dressed again, he was settled down, and he was sucking his thumb and rubbing his head by the time he got strapped into his car seat.

But still, those fat tears and that screaming... Sigh. Must put it out of my head.

Still plugging away at the novel, and having fun. Lots of stuff getting revealed in this chapter, big-picture-wise, so I'm trying to slow down and not rush ahead, which is my general tendency... The progress-o-meter says:
Zokutou word meterZokutou word meter
62,100 / 80,000
(77.6%)

Maybe I'll try and hit 80% tomorrow. Something to shoot for, at least. That ought to kill off the current chapter, with three more to go!

Speaking of chapters, I'm down to my last three sets of opening chapters to read for the workshop before I dive into the two complete novels I need to read before the workshop. Everyone keeps leaving me hanging -- as soon as I get to the end of their chapters 3, I'm left wanting more. A good sign, I guess. Wish I had time to read everyone's novels...

In any case, my current goal for this week is to win one of these grants. Later!
