Hot chocolate and windmills

A busy week sort of bumped into the weekend, overlapping a good bit. Got out of work Friday at a quarter to six, and still felt like I had a zillion tiny tasks to complete and X off my To-Do list as we count down to release 2.0 of our software. It's coming together nicely, actually.

The trick is finding time to have a life in between all that work stuff.

Luckily, this is a temporary thing, or I'd be bummed. Or bitter, like everyone else here:

(I'm actually not TOO bitter about missing yet another convenion. I'd be too stressed to enjoy it, just like the writing workshop I missed earlier this year. But there's still that Writers Day Out I have planned that's keeping me motivated...)

Elizabeth has to work all weekend, so it was Drew and me yesterday and today. And it was COLD -- we went outside for a bit in the morning to clean up the yard, and Drew was clamoring to get back inside (it got down in the thirties). So once we got indoors, I introduced him to the wonders of hot chocolate and marshmallows in his sippy cup (okay, so for him it was lukewarm chocolate). Then we cruised around a bit, exploring nearby Rolesville, and stopped at a great flea market store where we checked out metal windmill I was tempted to buy for our backyard (but the blades were rusty and sharp, not a good combo). We had a fun time, exploring, as always.

Today we're chilling out -- it's twenty-seven degrees outside! -- after a great dinner with our neighbors last night. We love our neighbors (in our old neighborhood, even after almost 10 years of living there, we NEVER had dinner with ANY of our nieghbors!)

Plans? Hmm... We'll maybe hit the mall playground to keep from freezing our noses off. Run some errands. Do some art and/or play-do stuff. Read some books (our new favorite is Chicka Chicka Boom Boom). Then hopefully Drew will take a long-ass nap so I can get caught up on work and maybe even do a couple edits to the ol' novel...

And he's up there in the crib, clamoring to be released. Gotta run! Later...
