Finishing touches

I just put the finishing touches on the opening five chapters of Sixteen Miles, after far too much time away from it. I think I slept in every day in December. But now I've gotten up four entire days in a row to work on the book again, and it's been a great feeling. Sure, I get a bit tired at work around 2 or 2:30 every day, but the freakishly warm weather allows me to get up and take a quick walk outside to wake my ass up again.

And there's always coffee. Lovely coffee. My precious...

Big big thanks to fellow writer Mary Madewell, who gave me excellent feedback on my expanded outline for the novel. I'm embarrassed by the number of dumb mistakes and typos I made on that thing. Great catches and suggestions, Mary! Just goes to show that you can't write in a vacuum, y' know?

And at last, it's Friday. I'm ready for the weekend -- Elizabeth and I have an actual date planned! Elizabeth found a neighbor girl to watch Drew for us (actually, all she has to do is be here in case he wakes up, as we'll put him to bed before we leave). She'll most likely have an easy night, watching TV or reading a book and eating what few snacks and junk food she can find in our cupboards while Drew sleeps away...

Any big plans for your weekend?? Let me know in the comments section. I'm off for another jog -- this time it's already sixty freakin' degrees. Someone call Al Gore. Later!
