We have ISBNs!

Things are starting to fall into place for the upcoming release of my novel The Wannoshay Cycle. At last! Seems like it's been forever since I got the acceptance letter about a year ago now. Soon I'll have a copy of the book in my grubby little hands (well, the galley copies of the book, that is, but that's just as nice).

According to the acquisitions editor working for Five Star, the release date for the Wannoshay novel is January 22nd of next year. Mark your calendars! There's no Amazon.com page yet (darn it!), but the "code numbers" that identify the book -- its ISBN -- is 978-1-59414-661-9 (the new ISBN 13 version), and 1-59414-661-6 (the old ISBN 10 version).

I think either of 'em will get you what you want. Once the various databases are updated, that is...

Very exciting! They're supposed to be shipping the "galleys" out next week to reviewers, so I'm hoping someone finds the cover compelling, along with the back cover stuff I wrote for it (the press is small, so authors get to do some of the marketing, which in a way is a good thing -- I'll have no one to blame by myself!).

I'll start running some "sneak peeks" of the book's back cover and other promo materials in the coming weeks, in case people are interested.

In other news, I was up this morning at a quarter to five, and I was just about reading to start going over chapter five, when the computer died and the lights went out. Sort of freaked me out -- I'd just read Cory Doctorow's "When SysAdmins Ruled the World" the other day (great story!), and I felt like fiction was becoming reality. So I went outside for a bit to check out the stars and listen to the silence (though somewhere in the distance an alarm was blaring, which added to the creepiness). Luckily, we only lost power for about two hours. I think I have all the clocks and timers in the house reset (I'm working from home today, woo woo!).

Now I've got to figure out what the difference is between a "galley" and an "advance reading copy"! Later...
