Hiatus-ing

I'm not sure why I feel compelled to write a journal entry about this, but I am anyway -- I'm taking a bit of a break from the Internet, at least from journaling and keeping up with various journals, especially over at LiveJournal. I was "mirroring" the journal entries here over there, posting the same journal entries here and there. Seemed a bit silly.

Also, they have this sneaky little tool called the Friends List that I get hooked on checking every fifteen minutes -- it's essentially an RSS feed that shows the most-recently updated journals, saving me the time it takes to actually go to someone's journal. But I tend to just skim all those journals, and I wasn't really reading anything. I'd rather do it the old-fashioned way, and just go right to someone's journal, instead of getting all sorts of content all at once, indiscriminately.

A big reason for this is that I just don't have the time to keep up with all things going on everytwhere on the net. That's why I've cleaned up my links on this page, and why I've lost interest in FaceBook-related stuff. That stuff can be a huge time-sink.

I'm also breaking a bit with the fiction writing, until I have the energy and desire to do it right. I tried revising a story while I was off work, and it sort of drove me batty, trying to find time to write. And I need to spend time with Mitch and Drew and Lizzie right now -- these guys are going to be small just this once. Maybe I'll do something new in January -- I have an idea for a novel... We'll see.

Meanwhile, I just want to chill out and enjoy our little fam and not stress about anything else. We've been watching DVDs of "Freaks and Geeks" on TV and loving that show. Of course it was canceled too soon. Later!
