Novel Sold: A GATHERING OF DOORWAYS

I'm very happy to report to everyone that my novel, A Gathering of Doorways, will be coming out from Prime Books in September of 2008. Wahoo!

This is the book formerly known as Sixteen Miles from Everywhere, and after throwing about three dozen alternate titles at Sean Wallace, the editor and publisher at Prime's offset press, we agreed on the Doorways one. Which I think is quite cool (though the book will always be known as "the 16 Miles novel" to me).

Prime has done some amazing stuff over the years, including some fantabulous books recently, like Ekaterina Sedia's dark and lovely novel The Secret History of Moscow (which I'm reading now and loving) to Theodora Goss' well-received, magical collection In the Forest of Forgetting, to name two off the top of my slightly spinning head.

I always thought that my dark, "rural fantasy" about a father and mother in search of their lost son in a place called the Undercity would fit in nicely with Prime's other titles. And yes, you'll be able to buy this book in your favorite bookstore -- Prime has really good distribution for these books.

Huge thanks to Sean Wallace at Prime (even if he didn't like my titles!), as well as Kathy Sedia for all their help. I also have to thank my posse of first readers: Kathy Sedia (thanks again!), Mahesh Raj Mohan, Michael Kelly, Shawn Scarber, Sarah "Rhubarb" Smith, and Carolyn Jasper. I also had excellent feedback from Greg van Eekhout, Sarah Prineas, Lee Capps, Samantha Ling, and Oz W. You guys rock!

More on the Doorways novel (I mean, the 16 Miles novel, no, I mean, wait!) as it progresses... Later!
