Sweet things

There are moments, even for Mr. Cloudy, when there seems to be a deep sweetness to life. Not the kind of outrageously funny moment that breaks out in laughter. More of a deep connected feeling that can come as easily in grieving times as in happy times -- a feeling that some pain is worth bearing, that there is a deep embrace within which we are all held, that we and all of reality are dear and holy even when some of the particulars of our world are far from what we would hope or create if we could control them. A sense of awe that leads the religious to worship not because it all makes sense but because it all seems pervaded by divine tenderness. A sense that compassion extends to us and through us toward all things, and includes them in all of their beauty and ugliness in love.
