2004-01-22 8:33 PM hopscotch Previous Entry :: Next Entry Mood: wistful Read/Post Comments (0) just finished reading a sad and beautiful short story by ray bradbury called 'hopscotch'. people always get all googly and misty eyed remembering their childhoods, and i'm always the one saying 'yeah, yeah, it was nice', but this story made me remember feeling things and thinking about things that you only do when you are young. this story moved me immensely. it just brought back that feeling of endless possibility and complete lack of foresight that hallmarks youth... the smells, the things you stop to notice, the things you think about and wonder if you'll still think about them when you're old, or if you'll remember that you were brilliant enough to think of them at that age. it may be just old age making me remember things as being better than they actually were (this is usually the case with old fogies), but it just gave me such a warm feeling in my heart. you know, the sun shone every day...
i bought the bradbury book of stories cause i like creepy stuff, but some of them are just so lovely, i was really surprised. i love getting a great feeling from a book like that. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
