today, while watching "the day the earth stood still", poppy amused us to no end. j, my co-worker, had never seen the movie before, so we explained to him that everything run by electricty stopped working for a half hour due to some menacing alien plot. just to be funny, we started to ask poppy a series of things that wouldn't work, like, "what about their watches?" after asking him about everything we could think of that used electricity, i asked, "what about their radios?" and he answered "of course" and we asked "what about the radios with the mice in them that read the news stories to the people?"...
without skipping a beat, poppy replied with, "well, where do you think the mice are going to get thier information from?" he said this as though i was the idiot for not thinking of the fact that the mice couldn't broadcast without the proper news feed.

this is why i love this man and am willing to have his gay son's baby, just to be a part of their family.
