Last weekend the universe gave me a ton of gifts.

Anyone who reads this knows my love of 80's wrestling (if not, see http://www.journalscape.com/ninsiana/2004-04-10-14:39 and ignore my initial disclaimer). On Saturday, I was flipping though the channels and came across something on the Hallmark channel featuring Roddy Piper. It was pretty serious, and I could not for the life of me figure out what it was until I saw everyone’s favorite douchebag, Chuck Norris. I don’t care how bad “Walker, Texas Ranger” sucks, it got Piper back into the ring. It was glorious. He played a wrestler and of course he wins the match, but he ends up in a coma. Until his son says “I love you dad” and Walker walks in, and he wakes up and everything is ok. It was just so great to see him doing the moves again. Sigh...

Later that night was the Ass Robots reunion show. MCQN started the show wearing a paper lantern with a flashlight in it (which was a great change from the diaper of the old days). He frightened the bar regulars by just standing still for 2 songs in said lamp. Once he changed into his Mexican wrestling mask, things got a bit more lively. The nonRefundables opened for the with an acoustic set (I never heard such a version of the Ramones “Judy is a Punk”).It was fantastic and fun and I loved seeing everyone and meeting some new folks. Driving home was a bit surreal. It was very foggy and I was a little foggy and I was listening to “The Virgin Suicides” soundtrack. Out of the fog, I noticed three silver mylar balloons tied to a tree. It seemed like a dream, and it made me a little sad, thinking about Andy Warhol. He said that after Valerie Solanas shot him, he was never really sure if he died or not. He said that from that point on, his whole life seemed dreamlike and that he could just never be sure if he was still alive or not. I drifted off to sleep on my couch, in my outfit.

On Sunday, Doc and I went looking for a Pogues documentary and then to Eddie’s diner for a late night meal. Afterwards, we watched “Robot Chicken” and I was super excited to see a skit featuring none other than Roddy Piper. All this paired with the fact that one of the sports channels is showing 80's matches from Madison Square Garden is making Ninsy a very happy girl!
