so i took the permanent part time job at the floral shop. i didn't realize it's the 2nd oldest business in this town at 130 years old. it's also in the heart of downtown Lex which is cool. there's a starbuck's, a cold stone creamery and a fine japanese restaurant all within a stone's throw, in the same block of shops actually. not that i'll be able to afford starbuck's, cold stone creamery or a fine japanese restaurant anytime soon, but that's ok too.

the area that it's located in is call chevy chase. the houses in the area range from $400,000 to over a million. there are dozens of beautiful pricey little shoppes all over the area, not to mention my daughter's school is about 3 blocks away. that makes it very convenient. she can walk down after school and hang out.

the owners are about my age, maybe a few years younger. they have 2 girls, ages 9 and 2, so they say they're understanding about family being first and all. they're ok with me picking my dd up when i need to or her coming down to the shop to hang out for a bit.

i'll be back to wearing jeans and sweaters and t shirts and comfy shoes and not having to dress up every day. w00t!!!!

course the pay sucks and no benefits. but hey, money isn't everything is it?? peace of mind, a job where i'm not driving 500 miles per week hoping to make a buck, a casual environment with people i like - it all makes a difference. one of my old friends and ex-next door neighbors works there too. we lived next door to her when my dd was born. we'll call her grandma barb (cuz that's who she is!!). she's a sweet older lady who i've known since i was 16. i worked with her at the other floral shop back then.

i'm gonna have to get another part time job on mondays and fridays, and hopefully something that pays a little more than i'm making there. i'll be working some saturdays too, but that's ok too. dh will have to step up and get to the grocery by his lonesome i think.

i start this friday at 8:30 and work all next week and probably the following week. valentine's day is coming up, so my family may not see me for a while.

an added bonus, imo!!!

well, for one of them anyway.

outtamyhead sometimes it all comes outtamyhead, and sometimes i'm just outtamyhead. period. i guess i started this journal thingy out of boredom at a job i used to have. i stay here because i've come to know and love some of the people i've "met". you know who you are!!!
