new information and old friends

our meeting tonight went well. very very well.

the computer forensics ex-IRS special investigator we hired was able to put some things together. he is speaking with an attorney he knows who is willing to meet with us. he (the attorney) has recommended that we file not only a civil suit, but thinks there may be enough evidence for criminal prosecution. we'll meet with him next week.

this guy is retired IRS. he's working for us for FREE at this point. we've run out of funds to pay him, but he continues to work for us. he agreed to do 10 hours for us at $100/hr, so we paid him $1000. he now has over 30 hours in this project.

when we were discussing payroll taxes that weren't paid and income that wasn't claimed and all that stuff, he said "hey, if ya didn't already know, i'm gonna tell ya, the IRS is ruthless" and he laughed.

yeah - like we didn't know that.

it's a mess. too much to go into detail here. but it looks like we may be starting to get it sorted out.

the two people who voted against unseating these guys were at the meeting tonight. they've asked me to bring the motions up again, and they'll be happy to vote "yea" this time. go figure!!

i live across the way from a girl i worked with at the mall when i was 17. she's a few years older than me and has already had lymphoma, encephalitis, two major strokes and something else i can't remember.

i don't know why. bless her heart.

anyhoo, i saw her a few weeks ago and we chatted. she's spent a lot of time at a rehab center since i've lived here, which is why i hadn't seen her previously. i went over to visit with her today for a bit, and it was great. we used to hang out some when we worked together and i remember her being so warm and friendly, and she still is.

she loves having company, especially a new/old friend to get to know again, because she can't drive yet and has no family here. she has friends who help her out, but everyone works and has kids, you know how it is. she said it made her day. and really, it made mine.

she has an incredible sense of humor, especially considering what she's been thru. it is really amazing how she comports herself. she's joyful and thankful and hopeful, and funnnnnyyyyyyyyy!! she was telling me how she looked like buddha at one point with her bald head and face all swollen from prednizone. and she was laughing about it!!! she said sometimes your sense of humor is about all ya have left.

i can't wait to go back over for another visit. it's so nice to catch up, and she's an inspiring person to have faced what she's faced and remain happy and not bitter.

yay!!! i have another friend!!!!!!!

i think this mike rowe guy on dirty jobs is pretty HAWT!!!
