I hate it when I hear secondhand news from TV that I can't track down in the newspapers or in online sources. But apparently some local news program reported some predictions by Chinese astrologers about the Iraq situation and GW Bush this year. One, the war is going to drag into several months if not most of this year, and two, GW Bush is expected to get into a car accident.

I know that most astro-predictions on world politics and economics prove to be wrong or silly more often than not, but on the other hand, from past experience, there is a type of Chinese personal astrology I've found that, when right, seems to get it right down to the smallest detail. (Which makes for a lot of speculative story ideas, but I've only worked on one--and am still working on it.)

And anyway, since I was much younger, it was a fascination for me to read stuff like Nostradamus, Mother Shipton and the Bible Code to see if any of the things foreseen really would come to pass on the stated date, if given. These three sources have sucked. It is always the little snippets from less famous sources I don't remember that come back and startle me later. Princess Diana's death in 1997, for example, had been predicted many years before it, and I had read the prediction at least 7 years ago, describing a member of the British royal family being in a fatal car accident in 1997. Of course, when you're in the year 1990 reading a prediction like that, all you can do is file it in the back of your head because 7 years is a long time to wait and see if the person got it right.

So I do have an interest in astrological predictions that affect world events and other people, and the more specific they are, the better. It's just interesting to see whether they're right.

Some interesting articles did come up when I was searching unsuccessfully for the latest astrology predictions on Iraq and Bush. Here's an analysis of George W. Bush's pillars of destiny around 2000-2002, and a bunch of related articles under it about the pillars applied to the 911 tragedy.
