three thousand nine hundred ninty one pages. this, according to wikipidia, is how many pages are in the seven dark tower books. I have 330 pages to go. (unfortunantly, I know the ending cuz I looked at spoilers once upon a time cuz at the time I thought the books sucked and I would never finish them...such is life.)

I think that number, 3,991, is also close to the number of books written devoted to the DT septenary; either by know-it-all hacks cashing-in on the series' well-established name, relatively okayish writers making their personal thoughts on the matter known, or even King himself putting out a note about this/that/th'other on his website. I mean, do a google search on anything even closely related to Roland Deschain and you'll be swamped w/stuff.

as for the books, man what a wild ride through the universe of SK they are. I wont spoil it for those who plan-to-read-it-I-just-havent-had-the-time-yet kinda people...of which I was one of.

way back when, I read book 1 pretty much the day it was released. same for book 2, 3, and 4 (almost). back then, I had money all the time so I could go to KMart and get the newest books on the shelf--and King books were alway a "day-of" outing. Id be there with creditcard in hand the day the books were released to the general public.

#1 was okay, not my cupp'o tea, maybe, but still good enough to keep reading.

#2, Drawing of the Three, blew my fucking socks off my fucking feet for three fucking weeks. that book was--at that time--simply the best reading material ever put on paper. I remember reading the final words on the final pages and flipping back to the front and reread it a second time. I prolly read something else next, but I did go back and reread #2 a third time in quick succession.

then #3....well, good, but I hope things start looking up again....was my thoughts on that.

book four, Wizard & Glass, was sooooooooooooooooooooo fucking boring I made it to about a quarter of the way before tossing it in a box.

and untill a few weeks ago, thats where it remained.

having nothing at all to read in this house, I ransacked all my book boxes. but I couldnt find anything I wanted to read. I finally decided on trying to finish Wizard and Glass. if nothing else, I could kill some time with it before I got to the library the next day.

but somehow--changing preferences? different life? ka? I started and could not set it down. I ate that book in like two days, then ordered the rest of the series from the library. of course, I hadda start all over, so I did; King's seven DH books all in a slightly askew row. wow, I say.

so anyway, I read the dark tower stuff and really recomend it.

writing a bit o fiction today prior to picking-up my paycheck, paying those blood-thirsty fucking utilities and such, fix my truck's toolbox (did I mention I got a new truck? yes, a black Chevy S-10...nice, thanks...)recharging the minutes on my cellphone (did I mention I got a cellphone? a black motorola...tis nice also...), then I dunno what to do. vic'll prolly bring grub, Ill read a bit, and just maybe Ill toss Knowing back in to the dvd and watch the last halfhour...it got slept-through the other night and I do wanna know what Cage got in miond for those weirdly dudes with bright teeth.

so there...............................................
