...the internet movie database [IMDb], the shawshank redemption is the all-time best movie. almost half a million votes to second place's the godfather with just over a third of a mil.

hmmm...

its a great story--Ive read it maybe six times, as recently as six weeks ago, in fact
its a great book-on-tape--my first, I played it when I added those cabinets in the kitchen (only complaint: my brain wanted to hear morgan freeman's voice)
and its a great movie.

but number one? and by that amount of votes?

hmmmm...

heres the link
http://www.imdb.com/chart/top
[no active link here, folks--that'd require effort on my part and Im not too hep on that]

so I wondered where my personal #1 movie was. aint there, but as I scrolled down the list [my 'Ctrl f' wasnt Ctrl f'ing for some reason, I hadda search manually] I saw other titles that could be my fave, on a different day--different frame of mind. was looking for starman. that usually is the movie I pick for #1. 'course, all those willis movies are just too good, and theres others that come to the top on occasion.

anyway, I dont dispute shawshank being a lot of people's fave...it just struck me odd that so many people liked it best.

struck me odd enough to post a journal entry, sheesh...

speaking of king, Im rereading the tower series. got #7 to reread yet, and it's on the kitchen table fresh from the library (along with more connelley and some other crime-drama stuff.)
going back to work has crimped my reading. shit, Im used to a book every 2 or 3 days. seriously, Im eating-up at least 3 novels a week, plus whatever is in the bathroom (a calvin and hobbes comicbook this moment). but working, that takes the air outta all that. I might be down to a book and a half a week now--oh the humanity.
