In Fortune's Favorites I've finished the descriptions of Caesar's first battle and Sulla's death and funeral, approximately page 500. I decided to take a break and read Elizabeth Moon's Marque and Reprisal, the second of the Ky Vatta books, with more to come, I'm sure. She's developing the characters over the several books and I look forward to the next. Kylara has her dark side, as do many fighting personnel, and I'll be interested to see where Moon goes with her.

I can't quite bring myself to read the rest of Fortune's Favorites right now, so I think I'll read another of the Killer Sheep stories. The one titled "Catapult" was intense, full of powerful imagery and ended with a gut punch. Highly recommended. Don't know if I'm ready for another one or not, but here goes.

[LATER: I read "Beneath" and "Godzilla's Revenge" and they are both terrific. The imagery just slaps you in the face and the plots are awesome. What a terrific collection of stories!]
