The House on Wednesday, June 22, approved a constitutional amendment that would give Congress the power to ban desecration of the American flag, a measure that for the first time stands a chance of passing the Senate as well.

Notice the use of the word "desecration". This means the destruction or misuse of something sacred. Applying it to the flag thereby defines the flag as a holy object.

And that, dear friends, is another successful move to chip away at the First Amendment separation of Church and State, and, by extension, the entire Bill of Rights.
