Triple digit weather and the livin' is hot. Even the airconditioner in my room is wheezing and struggling to breathe. I have friends in Katrina's path--ground zero, in fact--and I am concerned for their safety.

Though earthquakes are scarier, in my opinion. I've survived many hurricanes and several earthquakes, so I can speak to them both a little bit. Something about having the solid ground under your feet suddenly, without warning, start to rock 'n roll really scares me. Hurricanes approach with warning and you expect air (wind) to move; it's more the nature of that state of matter. But the ground rolling in waves like water...

Enough. Time to go water some plants and move the car into the shade, what there is of it. Good luck to you folks in Louisiana and those of you trying to leave!
