The nomination of Harriet Miers, 60, White House counsel, Texan, and a long time member of the Alberto Gonzalez/Dallas faction of Bush supporters, SMU graduate and Chair of the Texas Lottery Commission, is quintessential Bush cronyism. Never let it be said that Bush and Co are stingy about spreading the largesse to fervent loyal supporters.

This nomination is in the mold of the Clarence Thomas nomination--a smart move. They have selected a nominee that Democrats won't be able to criticize severely because the nominee is a woman or non-white ethnicity. A classic conservative tactic, using liberal arguments to undercut liberal opposition (guilt).

Judicial experience? She don't need no frickin' judicial experience. She is a rock-solid member of the Bush team and has a law degree. What more do you want?
