Redefining "Minority"
Previous Entry :: Next Entry

From CBS News:

Such [non-Hispanic] whites are a minority in four states, Hawaii, New Mexico, California and Texas, and the District of Columbia. The share of white people fell below 60 percent in three other states, Maryland, Georgia and Nevada. Nationally, non-Hispanic whites make up about 67 percent of the population, down from 70 percent at the start of the decade.

We need to re-think our definition of minority, which has always distinguished among us on the basis of ethnicity. Maybe the more effective way to group people would be on the basis of socio-economic status. Or even religion. How about lovers versus haters? With the President as the Decider.
