Me Meme

I've "borrowed" this meme from Beth:

Something different, something funny, something annoying, something surprising, and finally something weird about yourself.

Something different about myself: I see myself as just another person, like everyone else trying to make my way through the fog of life as best I can, being good to myself, the people around me, and the planet. I guess you could say what's different about me is that I'm smarter than the average bear.

Something funny about me: I have a wicked sense of humor and I can be funny at the damnedest times. Just a twist of a phrase, a pun on the unexpected word, or a bit of a famous poem at the right moment will do the trick.

Something annoying about me: I get talking and singing and having a great time and I miss the off ramp or make a wrong turn, and then we find ourselves taking the scenic (de)tour unexpectedly. Rhubarb, will you please pay attention to where you're going? I love to drive, anywhere, any time, it's heigh-ho for the open road.

Something surprising about me: What you see is the outgoing, friendly, everyone's-my-buddy exterior. What is surprising is that I'm really very shy and I have had to make an intense effort to reach out and make friends. Left to myself, I'd spend most of my time with a book or my computer--and my dog. I have a definite need for solitude.

And lastly, something weird about myself: I like to fantasize about being a crew member on a spaceship and travelling to other planets, meeting other sentient beings, learning new and fascinating ways of communicating and living. If I had been born in an age of human space travel and colonization of other planets, I'd have been the first to volunteer. Do they make spacesuits for dogs?
