A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

There should be enacted a law that says a beautiful perfect day is to be spent doing something special, something memorable.

Today has been in the 80's with pleasant sunshine and soft breezes. A loaf of bread, a jug of wine and a good book were paradise enow. Or perhaps a ripe peach, a glass of iced tea and the most recent favorite book, Only Forward, by Michael Marshall Smith.

It seems a violation of life to spend a day like today indoors, with fluorescent lighting and computer terminals and printers humming in the background. A day such as this should be spent in joyful pursuits or quiet contemplation or grubby gardening.

But no, it's still office time and tasks. The best part of today has been enjoyable conversation with friends. Usually I have my nose to the proverbial grindstone, but today has been a bit of a breather, still busy, but more relaxed than last week.

C'est ma vie.
