The Last Day of January

'Tis the last day of January, and I say good riddance to it. One last hurtful day -- my knee is terribly painful and it gave out while I was taking out the trash and I fell on the curb -- and it's over and gone. The worst thing about falling is the indignity of trying to get up again.

I expect February to be better since January just about used up all the bad luck for the entire year.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I spent the day going to the doctor, getting a haircut, washing my hair afterwards, taking out the trash and going grocery shopping. By the time I had brought in the last bag from the car my knee was so painful I was whimpering.

Ah, but whimper not. Vicodin to the rescue. I take the stuff only when the pain is excruciating, but I must say it's pretty effective. Once the edge is off, I can live with what remained.

And so long as the pain level is low enough that I can take a nap or read or fold laundry, I'm good. You do know, don't you, that folding laundry was of course my top choice for an after-lunch activity.

What, you laugh and say not? Begone, sirrah! I am made of sterner stuff.

Ah, but the laundry still remains heaped in basket...must have not done it...wonder why....
