Wouldn't it be wonderful to team up with someone who is a partner? Who understands the give-and-take of everyday life, is mutually supportive in times of crisis and who adds joy to both your lives, is fun to be with?

I've had friends like that. There is a mutual respect to friendship as well as interactive fun, making friendship more to be desired than other relationships, I think.

It's not a partnership when it's an ego struggle, when boundaries have to be drawn and vigilantly maintained, when the relative weights of give and take are greatly out of balance over a long period of time. These kinds of relationships are known as parenting or marriage or employment.

I'd love to be in a partnership/frienship situation, but if that's not possible, the next best thing is living alone.

If only.
