Traffic

Hard to believe I'd ever feel nostalgic about traffic, but when I look at a very familiar picture like this one (110 freeway in downtown Los Angeles), I think of the many hours I've spend in rush hour traffic like this, alone with my thoughts and my driving skills on autopilot, driving a car, a bus, a truck, often before the sun is up or way after dark.

You can see from the uneven pavement that our infrastructure is in serious need of upgrade. The 55 mile an hour sign is a touch of humor (they can't be serious!?).

These days I drive the streets to work. I don't miss bumper to bumper freeway stop-and-go at all.
