Manager Schmanager

I am so glad that I did not become a Regional Manager, a post to which I aspired and for which I ranked #1 and #2 on subsequent tests.

My current manager has been absent on vacation for a total of 6 weeks, four in the summer, and two just now, and I have been acting manager.

I'm here to tell you that being a manager ain't all it's cracked up to be. You deal with whiners and liars and manipulators, sucking up your time and energy all day long.

And for heaven's sake, if a person got hired and agreed to do what the job required, then where do they get off arguing about their duties and responsibilities? Aaargh!

The universe was watching out for me when I stayed in my current position instead of being promoted. I would have little tolerance or patience with the boring meetings and the head-butting ambition and the self-serving actions.

I am grateful to be in my current position.
