Jasmine died 11 a.m. this morning.

She was in pain all night, unable to stand, gasping for breath. I had scheduled her to be euthanized today at noon, but, loving and loyal to the end, she died quietly and saved me the expense.

She was full of joy, accepting of life with all its quirks, loving me and mine unconditionally. I've had many dogs in my life, and she was the best.

If I can do half as well, I will consider my life to have been well-lived.

Rest in peace, Jasmine. You were a good dog.
