I became involved yesterday in an office discussion when I heard someone say that "immigrants' children should not get a free education in our schools." I stood up and said that all children must get a free education, that we should look at every child as our future, as a citizen of the world. They are our future, and we need them to be as well-educated and informed as possible, regardless of their background.

Forcing children into ignorance will harm all of us, because it is the ignorant who have gotten us into the mess we're in. A truly educated populace would not stand for destruction of our planet, war, poverty and disease.

No child is "illegal"; all children are our children.
