Detachment

Each of us makes his/her decisions, choices in life, and the events and consequences unfold from them. We cannot make those choices for another person; only for ourselves.

Compassion

We feel another person's pain, we sympathize with her/his predicament. Much as we might like to do so, we cannot take it from him, make it all better; that is the enabler's error.

Patience

Our lives unfold, each at its own pace. It's an error of perception to be planning ahead, fixing it before it happens, imagining the worst; that is to be driven by inauthentic fears, by nightmares. Best to make sensible arrangements, then see what happens.
