It was fairly cool outside at 5 a.m.--75 degrees--but the house is still hot, the outside patio cement and sidewalks radiating heat and the house structure itself hot and inner air well over 80. I turned on the A/C (oh, my electricity bill!) on standby mode, to keep the one room cooled down to a liveable temperature.

I may have to emulate my friend in Louisiana and head for OPAC. Maybe at Starbuck's (though their chairs are uncomfortable) or the library or.... Time to make an inventory of possible parking locations (as in, where to park myself with a book).

Later today I'm visiting hubby in VA (39 miles round trip).

This morning I remembered to put several bottles of water in the refrigerator to cool. I forgot yesterday how room temperature water is, well, room temperature. When I grabbed a bottle to gulp it down, it was hot enough to brew tea. Yuck.

Still, though, I count my blessings. I have a roof over my head, potable water, cats for company, a good job, good health. Verily, I am rich. And I am truly grateful for being able to live so well.

Laundry is already in the dryer, coffee brewing, paid bills just now (6 a.m.).

Life is good.

7 a.m. Returning from getting the laundry out of the dryer in the garage. The sun has risen; patio and side of the house blasted already by sun glare. Got the laundry done just in time. Ready to close up that side of the house and keep it as dark and cool as possible.
