Homeless?

N is talking about leaving the hospital and coming home AMA (against medical advice) "in a couple of days". The result would be that we would, in short order, be in the same situation as before when we lived in the same house, and he was so disabled.

Therefore, I will, if/when he returns home, become one of the homeless. I haven't been homeless since my early 20's, when I was on the road.

Of course, now I have more resources; namely, a car and a bank account and a job, making life a whole lot easier than those early days when I was doing odd jobs for small change or food, and sleeping on park benches or under hedges.

I've been working on the worst case scenario, planning ahead (typical for me) on how to keep clean, where I can sleep safely, how to manage food, which clothes to bring, Kindle and laptop. Coffee cup. Post office box for mail. Cancel subscriptions. Medications.

I hope he takes care of the cats.

Being faced with such a prospect certainly narrows one's options and sorts one's priorities.
