Every Day, A New Conundrum

I won't bore you with the details, but suffice it to say (or write) that no matter how long I do this job, every year I am asked to untangle weird stuff different from any I've seen before.

I think it's one reason I like my job as much as I do. There's plenty of the boring, I-do-this-every-year, kind of stuff. But typically there are always a few un-typical problems to solve.

Couple that with the changes brought about by fiscal belt-tightening, and there's enough variety to keep me on my toes. Although after three years of annual reorganization deriving from an effort to deal with budget cuts and customer demand, we're bone-deep tired of management changing stuff just to make it look like they're taking charge and solving the problem.

Personally, I get a boost of adrenaline when one of "those" projects comes across my desk, and I like to rise to the challenge; however, several of my coworkers are terrified of change and freeze when confronted by the unfamiliar.

It's funny how differently we all react to change, challenge, and the unfamiliar.
