A Deep Breath

I started at 6:30 a.m. It's now 9:30 a.m. and time to move away from the computer, the reports, the To Do list and regroup.

I'll get another (hot) cup of coffee--this one is almost to the bottom of the mug, and it's cold.

For exercise, maybe a "jog" up and down the stairs, out and around the yard, now that the early morning commuters' exhaust and dust has dissipated. Still cool, though.

And a quick snack of Greek yogurt topped with blueberries.

Yesterday it was five hours before I surfaced and I never really got that second breath that carries one through the latter part of the day. Not going to do that again, if at all possible.

I got my boss to settle in one spot long enough that I could brief him on all the current projects and concerns. It's important that he and I stay in synch, since I'm supposed to be his clone, and he's supposed to know everything that's going on.

There's nothing that's wimpier (is there such a word?) than having to say, "I don't know. I'll check with my subordinate (or my secretary)." And it's very frustrating to work on an issue, only to discover that he's tackled it from another position and we're working at cross-purposes, or duplicating efforts.

I've enjoyed our little virtual visit. Back to the salt mine.
