I am exceedingly annoyed with my good friend Kramer. He recommended a book First Rule of Ten and I bought it for my Kindle, which means 60 seconds later I was reading it.

I guess I should be annoyed at myself, as well. I know that his recommendations are always off beat and always interesting; and if I didn't want to find myself reading away the afternoon and far into the night, I shouldn't have started.

Let's see...former Lama, former LAPD, with an 18 pound feline companion. Nope. Doesn't begin to tell you how unusual and interesting and entertaining this book is. Complex story, fascinating and well-developed characters. Set in the city Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley, on streets and neighborhoods I know oh, so well. What's not to like?
