Immigration Policy

Last night attended a lecture on immigration policy and undocumented workers.

It seems to me that people who have lived in this country for many years, whose children are citizens, who have ties to the community, who are employed, and have no criminal records should be offered amnesty and a path to citizenship.

If punishment is required, because they are in this country illegally, then they can be fined. Also consider that they have lived in fear, unable to be citizens, under the constant fear of seizure and deportation (Anne Frank comes to mind)--is that not punishment enough?

The worst situation is when the parents are deported and the children are sent to foster homes. A tragedy for all concerned, and a violation of humanity.

The law is wrong and it should be changed.
