When was the last time you

--sent something via snail mail?

--set the time on an analog clock or watch?

--picked up messages from an answering machine?

--watch TV on a tube television?

--looked for a phone number in the printed yellow (or white) pages?

--used a bank deposit slip?

--paid for transportation with a subway token?

--searched for a phone number or address in a rolodex?

--did research in a hard copy encyclopedia?

--took pictures with film?

--changed out a dead light bulb using an incandescent bulb?

Just for the fun of it, I tried these questions on my nephew, who's 32 going on 5. He was so condescending to my gray hair I wanted to smack some courtesy into him. He said I was old.

Had to explain to him what several of them were, and said if you don't know what it is, obviously you've never used it. Rolodex? Subway token? Bank deposit slip?

I wonder what will be considered dinosaur memories 40 years from now. Desktops? Landlines? Paying with cash? Driving a car? Remembering passwords?
